Sergeant, Art Hardy Lee - RCAF
Arthur Hardy Lee was born on June 8, 1899, in Greenbank, Reach Township. He lived in Uxbridge and attended schools there and in 1921 he moved to Regina, Saskatchewan. Art worked as an auto mechanic. There he met, and married, Lillian Irene Bennett. They moved back to Ontario and settled in Toronto in 1928. Art and Lilian moved back to Uxbridge sometime around 1939 and lived on Mechanic Street. They had three sons, Elwood, Brian, and Barry.
When the Second World War broke out, Art enlisted, and served as a mechanic on air force bases in England for the duration of the war.
When he returned to Uxbridge after the war he opened a men’s clothing store, Art Lee and Sons, on Brock Street. Lillian died November 21, 1955. Art remarried Aleta King. He died November 19, 1969.
