David J. Ferguson
Dave Ferguson was born in Toronto, Ontario, on April 25, 1926. He grew up on Gerrard Street and went to Withrow Avenue Public School. After leaving school he worked at Christie’s Cookies.
He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in April 1944, and took training his basic in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He served at HMCS Cornwallis and on HMCS Hyacinthe. The war ended before he was deployed elsewhere, and he was demobilized in 1946.
David married Agnes Anne Smyth, who had been born in Liverpool, UK, and raised in Tottenham and Toronto. They moved to Webb Road outside Goodwood in 1961. Dave and Ag raised fourteen children: Terry Anne, Larry, Barry, Geraldine, Diane, Donald, Arlene, Joyce, Mark, Dale, Frank, Scott, Jannine, and Shelley. Dave enjoyed horse racing and bowling. He died June 6, 1999, and is buried in the Uxbridge Cemetery.
