LAC Donald Stephen Forsyth was born May 5, 1925. He attended Uxbridge Public School, Uxbridge Secondary School, and Oshawa Collegiate Vocational School. He enlisted July 15, 1943, just after he turned 18, and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force.

He worked in Canada for the duration of his service as an aero mechanic, maintaining and repairing engines and the systems of DC3 aircraft at CFB Shilo, elsewhere in Manitoba, on Baffin Island, and once in Newfoundland.

He was discharged August 2, 1946, and he returned to Uxbridge. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He worked doing road construction for many years until he secured employment at Uxbridge Beverages. He worked there for 29 years until his retirement.

During those working years he married Florence Wright (February 26, 1952) and together they raised six children: Donald, William, Paul, Stephen, Lawrence, and Nancy. He was a member of the Uxbridge Legion for over 70 years and a Life Member for many of those.  He was also one of the original members of the Uxbridge Legion Pipe Band. Donald passed away January 3, 2018, and is buried in the Uxbridge Cemetery.

We thank him for his service.

We will remember them.
