Jimmy (James) Doherty

Private Jimmy (James) Philip Doherty immigrated to Canada from Ireland and answered the call to serve as soon as he was able, joining the Toronto Scottish Regiment.

He was killed in action in Belgium on September 29, 1944.

His family was deeply proud of his courage and commitment, but they missed him every single day. Many letters were exchanged between Jimmy and his loved ones—some filled with proud moments, others heavy with homesickness. Each one reflects the love he had for his family and the sense of duty that guided him. We are forever grateful for our Uncle Jimmy’s service and sacrifice.

We thank him for his service.

We will remember them.
