Jim Martin

Jim was best known as the proprietor of the Mansion House in Uxbridge from the 1930’s to the 1960’s. The land on which the Mansion House sat was owned by Joseph Gould, the founder of Uxbridge. Jim’s Great Grandfather, a Mr. Edward Phillips, was first given an Inn Keepers License in 1849. Jim sold the Mansion House in the 1960’s, and it was torn down and replaced by a grocery store. Jim was also an active member of the Uxbridge Fire Department in the 1960’s.

Jim became a life partner of Betty Cornell after she moved to Uxbridge, a widow, with her three boys. The two lived in Uxbridge for many years before moving to Nova Scotia.
Jim died in Nova Scotia Oct. 17, 1986.

We thank him for his service.

We will remember them.
