John Duncan Campbell
Born on October 19, 1905, in Lossiemouth, Scotland, John Duncan Campbell spent his childhood and early education in the coastal community that shaped his formative years. After emigrating to Canada, he arrived in Montreal on July 26, 1929, and spent a period working in Winnipeg before marrying and settling in Timmins. There, he was employed as a miner with the Hollinger Mines prior to his enlistment in the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Engineers. He returned to work in the mines after he was discharged from the army.
He passed away on January 18, 1970, and is laid to rest in the Veterans Section of North York Cemetery in Toronto. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving son, James Cooper Smith Campbell, and his family. His wife, Mary Ann, and son, Ian Donald, are deceased.
We thank him for his service.
